Erol Alkan is one man that has certainly mastered his craft…and now is your chance to catch him showing off some of his great music during Identity Fest. He’ll be traveling the country with the tour very soon, so grab those tickets now!
In recent years, this London-based DJ/producer has made a name for himself by creating a string of incredible remixes and mash-ups. It all began nearly 20 years ago when Erol Alkan started DJing in local London indie clubs. Soon after, in 1995 he took his business to the next level and opened his own club called Going Underground (later renamed Trash), which has played host to a number of famed artists – including, LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
But things really took off for this guy when he started focusing on remixing dance music–he ended up playing a leading role in the electroclash/dance-punk movement Over the years he’s fused together a variety of musical genres to create a style that is very much unique to his personality. From experimenting with dance, punk, electronic, and industrial, it’s become pretty evident that Erol Alkan has a certain flair for combining songs into a single, epic track. He’s even switched things up a bit by remixing under the alias, Kurtis Rush — his most popular track has been ‘Can’t Get Blue Monday Out of My Head’ (an amazing combo of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ and New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’).
