We over here at Wantickets would like to shed some light upon a recent announcement of giant magnitude that deserves your attention. Ash Pournouri (manager, mentor, and executive producer of current House superstar Avicii) unveiled the dates for a new tour for Avicii, the North American “House for Hunger” tour. What makes this tour so special is that Avicii, At Night Management and Ash Alliance have teamed up with Feeding America to put on this tour with the huge and honorable goal of raising $1,000,000 for hunger in America, an increasing critical issue.
On his choice of charitable causes to get involved with, Pournouri explained:
When I discovered that starvation had become more or less a common American problem (see some facts here) where kids are sent hungry to school, I felt that this issue had to brought to the attention of the world and the Americans we encounter on tour who can spend extreme amounts on just partying. Whatever little amounts could be generated from each pocket, it would in the end amount to a lot. The point was to demonstrate how easy it could be to make a difference and TOGETHER donate one million dollars to those less fortunate. —HouseforHunger.org
Not only does this tour promise to donate $1,000,000 to this critical cause, build awareness, and promote the importance of altruism to the younger generation, but it is setting out to achieve one more significant goal: to fight against the bad associations and prejudice against the house/trance/rave/electronic scene, showing people that it’s not all about drugs and reckless partying at all, but rather about the love of the music. As EDM fans, this is an issue that affects all of us. No one is denying that “drugs and reckless partying” happen, but for those of us who share a true love for the music itself, it can definitely be frustrating to be simplistically profiled/written off by people who don’t get it as a mere “raver,” “druggie,” “e-tard,” “reckless party animal,” “hedonist,” etc…With this “House (music) for Hunger Tour”, Ash Pournouri and Avicii want “to educate people about what our music is REALLY about – “love, unity and happiness.”
So definitely try to make it out to any of the dates, you would not only be supporting a stellar cause, but you’ll have a BLAST doing it, since Avicii‘s shows are nothing short of epic. Check out some killer live footage below, and for more information visit HouseForHunger.org.
