Sold Out Masquerade Motel Shows Are Highlight of WMC 2012

Swedish House Mafia was the center of attention at last year’s Miami Music Week and critics and fans alike wondered if they would live up to the hype in 2012. To no one’s surprise, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello all exceeded everyone’s expectations at this year’s Winter Music Conference.

The crowning moment of the week was Masquerade Motel, which was bigger and better than ever. Spread over two days, this year’s event was the first time the group has done consecutive headlining performances. 20,000 fans packed out the new downtown location and watched Swedish House Mafia’s mindblowing two hour production. Highlights included the fusing together of Swedish House Mafia’s “One” with an acappella of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know;” Swedish House Mafia’s “Save The World” with Axwell’s “Heart Is King” and Ferry Corsten‘s “Punk;” and a special version of Axwell, Ingrosso, Angello & Laidback Luke‘s “Leave The World Behind” with Porter Robinson‘s “Unison.”

In addition to a headline set from Swedish House Mafia, Masquerade Motel also featured smashing support from Calvin Harris, Alesso, Thomas Gold, Otto Knows, AN21, Third Party and NO_ID. Attendees couldn’t get enough Masquerade Motel, and if 2012 was this amazing, we can only assume next year’s event will blow the lid off Miami.
