Recap: MDW 2012 in Vegas!

Where to start… MDW in Vegas was absolutely INSANE. On Friday night the Wantickets crew hit up XS to see Tiesto. It was a packed event and the crowd was loving every second of it. We even spotted Sebastian Ingrosso, Kaskade, and AN21 in the VIP supporting their friend. He played a solid set complete with all of his recent hits like “We Own the Night” and his remix of “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye.

Day 2 started out bright an early! We headed over to Encore Beach Club for some Size Matters fun and were certainly not disappointed. AN21 and Max Vangeli kicked it off nice and proper. Their energy as a pair was cool to watch and really set the tone for the afternoon. They got the crowd going with “People of the Night” and “The Island.” Around 4pm was when we all knew the moment we had all been waiting for had arrived. EBC staff began throwing out t-shirts and soon the club was completely decked out, head to toe in Size Matters gear. Who doesn’t love free sh*t?

Steve Angello finally took the stage and everyone was ready to go. He started off his set with an amazing 45 min of Tech House before busting into “Greyhound” anddd that’s when it really started to go off. Everyone was dancing like crazy and the party really got wild. He played for close to 3 hours and it may have been the best 3 hours of the entire weekend. Some songs we went nuts to were “Here We Go” by Hard Rock Sofa and Swanky Tunes, “Atom,” “Quasar” and finally Steve started shutting things down with the Third Party remix of “Otherside.” By the end it was hard to drag ourselves away, but it was getting late and we had a long night ahead of us so we went back to our hotel for some R&R.

On Saturday night we were back at XS for round 2 of Size Matters and they served it up real nice once again. Even after seeing these guys all day, we still couldn’t get enough! AN21 and Max Vangeli opened it up again and when Steve came on everyone was thirsty for more. Once we had checked out that scene we headed over to Tryst to catch the late night set by none other than Skrillex. We all know Skrill knows how to drop it hard, but it’s not a joke when we tell you that our ears are still ringing. He played a MONSTER set that was so deluxe we can’t even find the words to describe it. Bottom line, Skrill’s late appearance was well worth the wait!

Day 3 started out rough but we pulled ourselves together and made it out to see David Guetta at Encore Beach Club. Sultan & Ned Shepard opened for him and they definitely exceeded our expectations. The duo played their new tune “Walls” and got the crowd pumped to see Guetta. Everyone was amped on seeing the legend and we even saw a bunch of dudes rocking F*** ME I’M FAMOUS cut off Tee’s. When we heard the familiar sounds of “Titanium” (Alesso Remix) we knew Guetta had finally stepped up to the plate. He continued with hit after hit and played “Wild Ones,” “Metropolis” and “Levels vs. Somebody That I Used to Know.” You can hate on Guetta all you want but, he knows how to show people a good time and his set was a blast. No complaints here!

Last up was deadmau5 on Sunday night. We got to XS on the early side and had just enough time to sneak up to the front to see our favorite mau5 build a dirty beat. It’s always a slow progression but if you’re into it he’s got you in the palm of his hand. We danced in awe and sang along to songs like “Raise Your Weapon” and “Ghosts N Stuff.” As the music got more and more intense he dropped bombs like his remix of “Killing in the Name” and “Cinema” (Skrillex Remix).

All in all it was a f***ing awesome weekend! We had an amazing time, the venues were definitely packed to capacity and it was great being around so many of our own kind… ehem *hardcore EDM fans! Big thanks to The Wynn & Encore, XS, Tryst, Surrender, Encore Beach Club, and of course the DJs for an amazing MDW!
