I haven’t seen ATB in about two years so coming to the Sutra this past Wednesday night couldn’t have been much sweeter. Renato Dinis, ANDR3X, and Darwin Paul kicked off the night and the crowd was loving it! They even loved Renato so much that they had him spin once more before ATB took the stage and it wasn’t hard to detect why; he teased the audience with ATB songs and more electro that they couldn’t help but crave more!
ATB took the stage beginning with “9 PM” and as soon as that synth crept in, there was not a single soul sitting down. Every person was on their feet with a drink in their hand singing along with the words. Each transition and build up seemed to make the crowd happier than the previous fifteen minutes. The audience went especially buck wild when he spun one of oldies but goodies “Ecstasy”. After performing “Hide and Seek’ and Zedd‘s “Shave It Up” among others, Andre dropped “Smells Like Teen Spirit” without any hesitation. As the lights scanned the public, you could see the look of excitement and shock among their expressions as the song kept playing, but nonetheless, it was welcomed with wide open arms, even when Andre started singing along into the mic himself.
He ended the night exactly where he began by replaying “9 PM”. We were left in astonishment as the final beats of the track were sped up to a halt and the lights were flicked on. In conclusion, ATB brought the perfect balance of electro, trance, and house to kick off the madness that was about to begin two days later. It’s no wonder that fourteen years later, he is still going strong in the EDM with an iron fist.
