Last night I went to see Autoerotique at Dim Mak Studios and my expectations were pretty much blown away. Heading to an event on a Tuesday night I didn’t think it would be too packed or crazy, but I was in for a surprise. At about 11:30pm the club hit capacity and the crowd was already going crazy for Paul Chambers who was opening. Although I was only able to catch the end of his set, Paul Chambers was going hard with some heavy techno that had everyone on their feet.
As soon as Autoerotique took the stage the energy level in the club went up about 100x and I’m pretty sure opening with DJ Chuckie‘s track “Who Is Ready to Jump” had something to do with that, because the floors were definitely shaking. Track after track the night just kept getting better, and the bass kept getting harder. He played his latest remix of Felix Cartal‘s “Tonight” and crowd favorite Nari & Milani‘s “Atom.” Although we love to hear the popular club songs, what everyone really wanted to hear last night was some of Autoerotique’s electro- house, and by far my favorite of the night was “EKG” – which is now a new favorite! Now something I didn’t think I would hear it last night (but I guess people aren’t done with it yet) – yes, I’m talking about “Levels” – the crowd ended up loving, but it might have just been the joke Autoerotique made about no one knowing who AVICII was.
For anyone that has been to Dim Mak Tuesdays, you know that when Steve Aoki is in town he makes sure to stop by and show his support, and last night was no exception. Throughout the entire set Steve Aoki was standing right next to Autoerotique, getting on the mic and hyping up the crowd, pouring champagne into the crowd and handing out shots all night. We know he couldn’t resist playing a little something for us, and the crowd went absolutely crazy when he played his latest single.
Overall the night was a huge success, anytime I get to see a DJ in an intimate club environment like Dim Mak Studios I don’t hesitate to say yes. People were raging so hard last night it made me forget it was only Tuesday – well, until I had to wake up for work this morning. But the sleep deprivation was well worth it. I can’t wait to see how huge Autoerotique will get, because after what I experienced last night I know it will happen soon.
