First of all, if you haven’t been to Wavehouse yet – YOU NEED TO GO. It’s a sick venue right on the Mission Beach strand so the weather is perfect and the vibe is super chill. Imagine a rager on the beach with a world-class DJ spinning – and that’s what Wavehouse serves up every week. Last weekend they had Wolfgang and this weekend they’re bringing in R3hab on Saturday followed by Tommy Trash on Sunday! Two weekends ago we were there for Madeon and here’s how it went…
LA-based DJ/producer Hotmouth got the crowd going with a an awesome set. If you haven’t heard of this guy you need to check his stuff out. His song “Totally Worth It” with Chris James has been getting a ton of play lately and he’s definitely on the verge of doing some big things! We’re big fans of Hotmouth’s unique sound and major props to him for keeping the party going till the sun went down!
Around 8:00 as day turned to night and the lights came on – the man (or boy) that everyone was there to see took the stage. It’s crazy to see someone so young get behind the decks and absolutely KILL IT. Madeon played a flawless high-energy set from start to finish, probably one of the best we’ve heard all summer. One sequence in particular stands out – he has the entire crowd rocking out and singing along to Nero’s “Me And You” then out of nowhere drops Hard Rock Sofa and Swanky Tunes’ “Here We Go” which had everyone going NUTS and then another seamless transition into the Dirty South remix of Miike Snow’s “Devil’s Work” – just SO ON POINT. Overall, a SICK set that had the place going till they kicked everyone out!
In conclusion:
1. You MUST go to Wavehouse
2. Be on the lookout for Hotmouth
3. SEE MADEON LIVE
