On Sunday night I was the lucky intern that got to attend the Wolfgang Gartner show at the historic Yost Theater in Santa Ana, and I’m so happy I didn’t miss this event. I arrived at the venue at about 10:30pm and the line was already pretty long, but that didn’t surprise me – I mean, it was Wolfgang! Getting into the venue was smooth sailing, the staff was so helpful and nice that I would definitely recommend this venue to all my friends and anyone reading this blog.
Before Wolfgang took the decks Mister Blaqk was doing an amazing job getting the crowd warmed up, my friends were already getting down on the dance-floor as I made my way around the venue. I’m a huge fan of venues that are smaller, like Yost is, because no matter where you are standing you have a perfect view of the stage. With an amazing sound system, and huge led screens on both sides of the DJ booth, I could tell it was going to be an awesome show.
Around midnight Wolfgang took the stage, and from the moment he went on the crowd’s energy was through the roof. Everyone was on their feet and had glow sticks in the air as Wolfgang threw down fan favorites like “Space Junk” and “Flexx.” The crowd’s reactions to Wolfgang’s latest singles “Girl on Girl” & “Girl on Boy” was priceless, hearing new music at a live show is what we hope for, and Wolfgang delivered big time. We would never have guessed that Wolfgang played at Wavehouse earlier that day and at XS the night before, because he had just as much energy as the crowd. Whenever you combine Wolfgang Gartner, jaw-dropping lazer shows & amazing visuals I can’t imagine anyone walking out and NOT being blown away. This wasn’t my first Wolfgang show and it will definitely not be last.
