The second I got the “Yes” from the boss to see Mat Zo at Ten Nightclub, I almost screamed with joy. I’ve been hearing great things about the venue so I was very looking forward to checking out what all the hype was about. Also, if you attended Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas this year, you might remember that Mat Zo be came Mat No-Show. Many fans like myself were thoroughly disappointed, but there was no need to fret, because Sunday night at Ten had finally arrived!
First off, if you guys haven’t heard of BRAZZABELLE, go to her soundcloud right now! This woman spun some old school hip hop, graciously mixed it with a bit of reggaeton, and so much house to make our eardrums go wild. The crowd ate up every bit of Brazzabelle’s set getting us incredibly pumped for Mat, and by the end of it many had found a new artist to add to our iPod’s.
Once the man of the night came onstage, the crowd went berserk! He opened up with Shade Sheist and Nate Dogg’s tune “Where I Wanna Be” just like he had promised via Twitter. He blasted “Bipolar” and “Superman” then dove right into Porter Robinson’s “Language” with incredible ease. Zo spun other summer bangers like “Kick Out the Epic MotherF*cker”, his collaboration with Arty called “Mozart” which got the crowd singing along, the club remix of “The Sky”, “D.A.N.C.E.”, and tons more.
Mat surprised the crowd by ending his phenomenal set with an old hit of his called “Rebound.” As the final chords were fading out of the speakers, the crowd went back and forth chanting “One more song!” or “Twelve more songs!” or “MAT ZO! MAT ZO!” After a few minutes of talking with security and staff, he played “It’s Yours.” Needless to say, if you haven’t seen Mat Zo live, GET ON THAT!! He is an incredible performer with unbelievable transitions and original build ups that will make your ears melt.
