English-Canadian DJ/producer Richie Hawtin and German DJ/producer Yassine Ben Achour, known as Loco Dice, are teaming up to school the next generation of musicians on the ins and outs of electronic music. “CNTRL: Beyond EDM” is a North American college tour, presented by DUBSPOT, that will feature seminars, and Q&As topped off with evening shows. Seminar topics range from music to technology with an emphasis on the futuristic and underground subculture of electronic music, which are Hawtin’s and Achour’s specialities. The purpose of the tour, according to Hawtin and Achour, “is all about engaging young North American fans of EDM and showing them the roots of the music, the history of a global movement and demonstrating what the future of music technology and performance has the power to become.”

Hawtin and Achour will be leading their own respective lectures; guest speakers will trickle in throughout the tour, including Tiga (Nov 5, Montreal) and John Acquaviva (Nov 6, London Ontario) with more to be announced.

The “CNTRL” college campus curriculum is as follows:
- Richie Hawtin on using technology to control creativity
- Loco Dice on old-school DJ-ing with modern technology
- Hawtin’s sound technician Johannes Krämer on the importance of sound quality
- Ean Golden on digital DJ-ing and controllerism
- Q&A with CNTRL artists and special guest speakers

To round out the daytime sessions, Hawtin and Loco Dice will also be performing, with various DJs, including but not limited to Carl Craig, Seth Troxler, Kevin Saunderson, Josh Wink, Victor Calderone, Paco Osuna, TechTools’ Ean Golden, among others.
