This year at New York Fashion week, fashion genius Alexander Wang stunned his audience at Pier 94 with his Spring 2013 collection, but not in the way you might think. Wang’s collection featured lots and lots of leather, metallics, surprising cutouts, as well as futuristic and menswear-inspired looks. However, just as the audience thought the show was over, models dressed in white littered the runway and the lights went out to reveal show-stopping glow-in-the-dark pieces that nodded to his obsession with the rave scene.
Wang has not been shy about his love affair with dance music. Sitting front row at the show was Yo-Landi Vi$$er and Ninja of Die Antwoord. Yo-Landi Vi$$er drew attention with her fashion choice, which was a ivory mesh face covering layered with a black hoodie. Die Antwoord also performed at Wang’s Tribeca after party later that evening.
Last year, the fashion designer also collaborated with rap-rave duo, Die Antwoord for his Spring 2012 campaign. Their single “Fatty Boom Boom” was featured in the video. Below is the campaign video.
