Madeon released his newest EP, entitled The City, yesterday exclusively on his label popcultr. The EP features two versions of the album-titled track, “The City,” and a live version of his single, “Icarus.” The newest tracks on the EP are a remix of his track “Finale” done by Netsky, and a remix of “Icarus” by Fred V & Grafix. The “Finale” remix starts out with a much slower tempo than the original track making the sound of the track unique to Netsky. This remix samples the vocals from the original song, which have you clinging to the last memories of summer, encouraging the listener to “go out fighting, go out young.” Netsky’s mix then drops into a high-energy beat, the climax of the song is a melodic breakdown highlighting the sounds of the piano from Madeon’s original mix. On the other hand, Fred V & Grafix take a different approach to “Icarus.” The drum and bass duo favor breathing life into the beat and adding in a different drop, infused with a drum sequence. The disco-esque vibe is still the same, but these artists manage to still make the track their own. Check out the remixes below, and to hear more from Madeon, check out his Soundcloud.
