With the rise of EDM into mainstream media, it is no surprise that musicians to artists to fashion designers are utilizing the genre and culture as inspiration for their work. The House of Christian Dior is no exception! This year, fashion designer and Head Creative Director at Dior, Raf Simons premiered his first collection for the couture house and named the theme for Spring 2013 collection “techno butterflies.” The line premiered at Paris Fashion Week with music courtesy of techno producer DJ Carl Craig (check out his set list below). The Spring 2013 collection featured tailored separates, bold colors and unique fabrics. But what really caught the attention of the fashion show attendees was the makeup, courtesy of well-known makeup artist Pat McGrath. Models sported brightly-colored eyeshadows topped off with Swarovski to add just a hint of sparkle. McGrath achieved the look by sweeping bold-colored eyeshadows, in purples, oranges, blues, greens, and turquoises, across the whole eyelid, making a thick winged-tip at the end. She then, rimmed the top of the eye with a black eyeliner, and added black mascara. Finally, McGrath embellished the look with crystals in complementing tones, such as Capri Blue, Jacinth, Indian Pink, Aurore and Chrysolite. She described the look as modern and one that would appeal to many young girls today. We couldn’t agree more! This look is one that will definitely turn heads, or even add that special touch to your Halloween costume this weekend! Check out photos of the look below and on our Pinterest!
