Don Diablo – Doin’ the Next MYB Order (Daft Punk x Dog Blood x Oliver X Don Diablo)

I’ll be the first to say I’m usually really cautious with Mashups… most end up just being a weak drop-swap… but Don Diablo is serious with his newest bootleg that he’s prepped for his upcoming “Hexagon” show (I want to go to there). I think every single post we’ve done of Don (or Axtone, for that matter) we’ve begged him for “Starlight“… but this bootleg nearly erases all of that concern because damn… he’s just generally on to something amazing here.

He’s combined 3 of my personal favorite tracks of the last year: Oliver‘s “MYB”, Dog Blood‘s “Next Order”, and “Doin’ it Right” off Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories, which leaked early this week. The 3 tracks work so well into eachother that it’s almost hard to tell where “MYB” ends and “Next Order” begins in the bubbling electro beat, and the “Doin’ it Right” sample is just icing on the cake that draws you in and brings the whole package together. Just try to not dance to this one. It’s impossible.

While it may not be the “Hexagon” show that he’s throwing down across the pond, Don Diablo is hitting our shores in June, with a show at Studio Paris in Chicago on June 12 and then coming out to Los Angeles for a special edition of Control at the Avalon on June 14. Mark your calendars… cause with the catalog of solid releases under Don’s belt, who knows what more tricks he’ll have up his sleeve.

There are a lot of things out there that bring a smile to my face, but nothing as consistently pleasing as the day I find out there’s a new fixtape. These mixes curated by the ever-so-hip Solé Bicycles always know just how to get you grooving with some of the funkiest acts out there. This month they’ve got Cassian, the disco-god from down under, in charge of the mix and we’re surely in for a treat. In his own words behind his approach to the mix:

I really wanted to roll with the concept of motion in music, keeping the speed low & energy constant. When deciding on the track listing I didn’t discriminate on songs based on age so expect to hear a range of both old & new tunes.

No, Ferry sees all those live set rips and wants to raise the ante… so today he posted a monster on his Soundcloud: A full recording of the entire Full-On show straight from Washington DC’s Echostage… and that means over 5 hours of top-notch sets from not only Ferry, Tritonal and Bassjackers, but B2B sets featuring Ferry vs Bassjackers and Ferry vs Tritonal.
