I originally caught wind of Walk off The Earth from their viral hit 5-people 1-guitar cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” that’s reached over 150 million views on YouTube and was shared pretty much everywhere, considering it was an actually unique cover of the most-played song of 2011-2012. On top of this they’ve released tons of other covers and originals on their YouTube channel and released their debut album R.E.V.O earlier this year, featuring the single “Red Hands“.

Now one thing they haven’t had until now is a banging remix by one of the brightest rising electro stars… until now. We’re always stoked to get new music from Charlie Darker, and this new remix is no exception. Charlie describes his “sunshine mix” as a one-off, happy summer track that’s a quick departure from his usual hard-hitting style. It’s big, it’s energetic, and it does the original track justice by keeping the upbeat vibes and adding a big-room danceable twist that takes the viral video band out of YouTube and onto the dancefloor.

Last week, the world was treated to a premature leak of the new album Random Access Memories from the legendary French robots. Yesterday, the world was officially exposed to the album in all it’s glory with the official release on all major music outlets.

But there was one surprise for Daft Punk fans around the world: after having a week to digest the leaked album and its 13 solid tracks, listeners were surprised to see an additional bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album. This is actually a quite normal practice, as almost every Japanese release of an album will include at least one bonus track due to special record deals that insist that “special editions” motivate consumers to buy the domestic version rather than importing the original release which sometimes comes out much earlier. So it’s not necessarily a surprise that there would be an extra track, but any day you get a new Daft Punk track is a good day.

With “Horizon”, Random Access Memories finishes off on a much mellower tone than the original closing of the epic “Contact.” Leading with an acoustic guitar, the track slowly builds into one last plateau of emotional synth chords that serves as a warm-down like encore. Where as “Contact” is an epic Space-Odyssey finish, “Horizon” winds down in a much more subdued style like the sun slowly fading in a sunset.

17-year-old Martin Garrix commanded his presence as an industry up-and-comer with the release of “Torrent,” a fiery collaboration with Sidney Samson. Now the young Dutch producer’s onto banger-shaping methods of his own. Yesterday, he dropped a preview of his first solo track entitled “Animals” on his official Soundcloud page. The magic of this standout track lies in the urgent beats at at its start as well as the series of popping synths that melt your mind once the drop hits. It’s a track with a huge future ahead of it from a talent who’s bound to give some of his predecessors a run for their money in the near future.
