The king of trance put on quite a show at Ultra’s second weekend. Armin van Buuren brought A State of Trance 600 to the festival on Sunday, and proceeded to blow the roof off of the mega structure with his set. His hour and a half long set is full of dreamy synths, euphoric drops, and some filthy beats that will make even non trance addicts take notice. You can listen to the mix below, however there isn’t a track list yet for this one. You will have to let yourself get lost in the beautiful music, which is what trance is all about anyway.

Armin van Buuren will be making an appearance at Marquee Nightclub in Las Vegas on May 24th. Tickets are available here.

Last month we brought you an exclusive interview where we talked to the talented Texas-based twosome of Trance, Tritonal (apologies for the alliteration, it was too tempting).

They talked about the evolution of Tritonal with their upcoming EP, Metamorphic I, which marks a distinct moment in the world of Tritonal. With the end of their epic Air Up There radio show, something had to come back to fill the gap, and in December they teased their fans with a brand-new concept of not only a radio show, but an entire community of Tritonians called Tritonia.

Well that time is now and Tritonia is here. The first episode welcomes listeners back to a new world of music inspired by the evolution of Tritonal’s sound and the journey of Air Up There. The guys put so much heart into their mixes and you can really hear it. With epic mashups in Tritonal-style they kick off with an instant classic “Everyday Wayfarer” that brings together Eric Prydz and Audien in a flawless blend that’s just pure happiness.

So tune in, subscribe on iTunes and that volume should be heading… North!

Hot off the release of their HUGE new track “The Code” with Ummet Ozcan, we got to talk to Dutch trance duo Wardt van der Harst & Willem Van Hanegem, known more simply as W&W. They’ve taken the world by storm with their big-room trance and unforgiving beats that move crowds into a frenzy. Learning from the best, the duo is set to play Armin Van Buuren‘s sold out “A State of Trance 600″ celebration at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden and recently released a brand new collaboration with the man himself. “D# Fat” is sure to make its mark on the world of trance with its huge sound and beautiful melody.

Get to know the boys a little more in our exclusive interview below:

***
Hey guys! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions!

No problem! Thanks for having us!

So going back to the start: How did you guys meet and start working together?

We had a mutual friend and via him we got in touch on the internet. We started talking about music and listening to each others music. After a while we all went to a huge party in Holland called Trance Energy and that’s where we first met. We became friends and six months after we produced our first track together.

What were some of your earliest musical influences?

In Holland there has always been dance music on the radio so at a very young age we got in touch with the big dutch DJs like Armin van Buuren, Tiesto and Ferry Corsten. Those are definitely some of our influences.

What do you draw inspiration from outside of trance and EDM?

We get inspiration from a lot of things, for example new synths, sound sets or production tricks. When we learn something new we always get straight into the studio and try it out!

What are some of your favorite tracks or artists right now?

We think Hardwell is doing a really good job at the moment. Also Armin is bigger than ever! But we can also enjoy totally different kinds of music like hard style, chill out or techno. We don’t have one particular favorite artist, more just certain tracks that we love.

Speaking of new tracks, your new single “The Code” with Ummet Ozcan just hit #1 on the Beatport charts, congrats! We’ve been playing it a ton and it’s definitely a great way to kick off the new year! What was the vision behind the track when you guys went into the studio? How has the reception been so far?

Thank you! We just wanted to make a track that totally destroys a dance floor, without genre-borders. The reception has been absolutely fantastic! So many different DJs are playing it! Just to name a few: Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, David Guetta, Hardwell, Afrojack, Pete Tong and many more! We never expected this.

More generally, when you go into the studio to produce a track or a remix, what is your creative process like?

Most of the time we have a general idea of what we are going to do. Then we just play around a bit till we have something we think we can work with and from there we start building. But it’s always different, there’s not a specific way of working that we always use.

You guys have done a bunch of collaborations and remixes for some huge names, but what would be your dream collaboration: any musician or producer of any genre or style, and why?

One of our dreams was to do a collaboration with Armin van Buuren, but that dream did already come true! Right now we’re working on a track with Hardwell, which we’re very excited about and also some other stuff we can’t reveal yet. We don’t really have a specific singer or artist we want to work with right now, as long as he/she is good, adds something to our sound and is something people wouldn’t expect from both of us.

What is so special about trance fans / why are they so unified?

Trance fans are very dedicated! They support their favorite artists a lot and they really live for the music. What unites trance fans is the fact that it really is a universal language. We have fans from Mexico, North America, Asia, Europe, basically the world, all communicating on a daily basis, just because they like the same music.

Your fans are pretty hardcore. What’s been your funniest fan interaction?

We both got a crazy youtube video as a birthday gift. A lot of fans recorded a message and edited everything together into one short movie. That was really overwhelming!

What’s on your tour rider / funniest thing on your rider?

There’s actually nothing really funny on our rider, just a couple of drinks. Maybe we should add something like a beach ball or a bunch of carrots just to be completely random.

You were recently announced to be part of Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance 600 celebration in New York at Madison Square Garden! This is a landmark venue for so many artists, and to have such a huge roster of trance heavyweights together on a sold-out show is gonna be crazy! What are you most excited about for this show and what kinds of tricks do you guys have up your sleeves?

When we heard that ASOT 600 NYC was going to be in Madison Square Garden we first thought it was a joke. When we hear that we were going to be part of it we just couldn’t believe it. MSG is such a legendary venue, only the greatest bands and pop acts performed there so far. So playing there is probably something we will never forget. We actually do have some cool plans especially for this event but we’re not going to reveal anything yet haha.

Thanks guys! We can’t wait to see you out on the road and at ASOT 600!

I’ve never been much of a trance listener, but as soon as I saw that Armin van Buuren and Markus Schulz had produced an official anthem for their upcoming A State of Trance Expedition tour, I knew that the probability of my mind being blown was extremely high. “The Expedition,” this anthem’s official title, is a pulsating track with a jarring, suspenseful pickup that blasts forth into a multitude of varying sounds with incredible energy. It was released on Beatport yesterday.

Trance legend and #1 DJ in the world, Armin Van Buuren, has released new details of his upcoming landmark 600th A State of Trance radio show tour, titled “The Expedition”. Much more than a single radio show, ASOT takes advantage of its notable episodes and turns it into reasons to bring together the biggest and brightest talents in the trance world on worldwide tours. ASOT 550 saw Armin touch down twice in the United States, taking over entire stages at Ultra Music Festival and Insomniac’s Beyond Wonderland, officially confirming that the US trance movement is here to stay and play with the big leagues. Now, for the 600th installment, Armin is bringing the music back to the states for two HUGE shows, one at Miami’s UMF once again, and another in one of the world’s most famous arenas ever: Madison Square Garden.

It was only last year that we saw the first ever headlining electronic show at MSG with Swedish House Mafia‘s show selling out in under 10 minutes, one of the fastest responses of any musical act to grace the stage. Now the king of Trance is bringing his world-renowned radio show straight to the center of New York City on a world tour bigger than he’s ever done before. The radio show, broadcast through more than 62 radio stations in 52 countries, has an average of 20 million listeners each week. Since the announcement in October, the Dutch DJ has revealed 11 dates and cities in which ‘The Expedition’ tour will take place. Seven of the editions will be broadcast live, interacting with and uniting millions of listeners from across the globe through multi-digital techniques. This world tour will be bigger and more interactive than any previous ASOT celebration has ever been.

So get ready New York, “A State of Trance 600 – The Expedition” comes to Madison Sqaure Garden on March 30th!

US Trance Family, get ready to bring the noise!
