It was a beautiful San Francisco night and after a long day in the car I was ready to let out some energy and rage. I arrived at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium just in time to catch Wolfgang Gartner killing it, at this point the auditorium was still filling up and you could feel the energy of the crowd building up. Wolfgang did a great job of getting the crowd amped and by the time “Illmerica” came on towards the end of his set you could tell that the tone had been set for the rest of the night. “Illmerica” is one of my favorite songs so as you could imagine I was going pretty wild. One thing that I thought was a really great call was that between sets there was a small DJ booth on the side of the stage to keep the crowd alive and rocking.

Before Bassnectar started there was a parade of drums and crazy looking characters. Some were on stilts, some were waving flags and some had inflatable animals on sticks that they were fist pumping into the air. After all this mayhem these words came on, “Let me tell you why you’re here, you’re here because you know something, something that you can’t explain but you feel it…” The voice continues and Bassnectar comes onstage and “Drops Bass in Your Facee” and the crowd starts going insane! And whoever does Bassnectar’s lights and visuals is a G because that was definitely one of the most incredible and creative out of all that I have seen!

One of the highlights of this show was when I climbed up to the upper level of the auditorium and looked down at the sea of people that I had just been a part of. I was a little bit shocked, I had no idea how many people were down there and I definitely didn’t think it was that many! Another highlight of the show was when Bassnectar did his remix of “Lights” by Ellie Goulding it was towards the end of the show and everyone was still going nuts. The visuals for this song were pretty cool as well. There were stars falling and everyone was loving it!

This was my first Bassnectar show and I must say that I really enjoyed it. I had always heard that he was awesome to see live and now I am a firm believer in that statement so if you’ve never gone to see him perform, I highly recommend it!

This Saturday, September 17th, Bassnectar is continuing on tour and is making a stop at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco with Wolfgang Gartner, Dan Deacon, Big Gigantic, LowRIDERz and Van De Vire Society.
