I’ve been trying to stay away from progressive house lately because it’s all starting to sound the same to me, so instead I’ve been listening to other types of EDM. With that being said, Henrix got me with this one. Although only starting his career in May of 2012, the young gun already has a strong following  and is set to release his tracks on some of the biggest labels, including SIZE Records. “Rock & Rave” features a rolling acid bass line and a slow ominous interlude that makes this track stand out. With support from Kaskade, Laidback Luke, and more, Henrix is a name to watch out for! Check it out below.

We recently named Firebeatz as one of the artists to watch for in 2013, and it’s easy to see why. The Dutch duo have exploded onto the electronic dance music scene this year. Since the release of their smash hit “Dear New York” this past summer, they followed up with “Disque” and “Here We Fucking Go” – to say they’ve had a busy year is a complete understatement. Instead of taking a break at the end of the year, the duo took to the turntables to create their own 2012 yearmix. This one hour mix features many of their own remixes including Zedd‘s “Stars Come Out’, Bingo Players‘ “Don’t Blame The Party”, and even their mix of Sean Paul‘s “She Doesn’t Mind”. I’m not one for hardstyle or electro but I love myself a good banger, and this track doesn’t fall short! Showtek and Bassjackers have come together to bring us this massive, heavy track that is beyond perfect for your New Years Eve playlist! Just like Showtek’s previous productions, this one goes hard as a motherf**ker! This may not have the same speed and power as “Cannonball” but if you love music to just rage to, then this is your tune! This track, along with the music video, was released today… perfect to get your rage face on!

“So Young So High” is an instant “stuck in your head” type track and we couldn’t be more excited that the boys have chosen today to finally release their slightly-NSFW video. This video portrays a group of senior citizens celebrating life, just like most of us will do tonight! You can always count on Dada Life to bring us some of the best and most hilarious music videos around, and this one is nothing short of it. So put on this video and let’s party away 2012!

John O’Callaghan has always been one of my favorite DJs, so when I heard that he was going to be spinning at Exchange LA, I jumped on the opportunity to go. The star-studded lineup also included Egyptian duo, Aly & Fila – so I made it my mission to attend this event.

The line outside was PACKED with tranceheads trying to get in to see Armada Night featuring a special back to back set with Aly & Fila and John O’Callaghan. Aly & Fila and John O’Callaghan have made quite a name for themselves in trance – the boys are best known for playing their dirty, hard-hitting 140 BPM tracks. I’ve been to Exchange LA many times, but I can honestly say that the only other time I’ve seen it this crowded was when Armin van Buuren played for the DJ Mag Top 100 party. Luckily for me, I was able to find a not-so crowded area on the second floor with an awesome view of the dance floor and stage. Around midnight, the boys got on stage and immediately the crowd started going crazy – everyone was on their feet and full of energy. This was probably one of the best Awakening nights I’ve been to yet. A&F and JOC both got the crowd pumped by throwing down banger after banger. The guys were awesome and they had everyone jumping and screaming along to their set.

The track-list was mindblowingly amazing! Not only did they throw down some bangers like “Concrete Angel” and “Stresstest”, but they managed to play a whole handful of tracks that I’ve never heard live, including one of my favorite JOC songs, “Centurion.” The best part of the set was hearing them drop Oceanlab‘s “Satellite” and then transition into “J’ai Envie De Toi” – EVERYONE in the club started singing at the top of their lungs during this part of the set. It was unlike anything I’ve seen before.

From start to finish, Exchange LA was packed from wall to wall with people raging and singing along. John O’Callaghan and Aly + Fila brought the party and did not let everyone go off easy. There wasn’t a moment in the set where I was bored of a track or thinking that the build-up was taking too long. They knew exactly what they audience wanted, when they wanted it, and made moves accordingly. It was easily one of the best shows I’ve been to at Exchange LA. My friends and I all left the venue in awe, half deaf, and with our voices gone – it was worth it!
