“It’s kind of ironic: two Androids are bringing soul back to music.”In the second episode of Daft Punk’s teaser series leading up to their new album, Random Access Memories, we sit down with Todd Edwards, an American House DJ whose role in the history of House music in America is undeniable with an 20+ year career. His style of chopping and sampling vocals that he has become known for has been called on before by the men in the masks, as he sang, co-wrote and produced “Face to Face” off Discovery. So it’s only right that they bring him back in on RAM (Not that he ever expected they would call him again). In the video he talks about the sheer scale of production that Thomas and Guy-Manuel tackled in the making of the album, with unprecedented number of inputs and tracks of live instrumentation in a way that Todd himself says has become a lost art of sorts. Recap: Deniz Koyu + Pleasurekraft @ Avalon – 6/22

Last Friday Deniz Koyu, Pleasurekraft and Mr. White absolutely killed it at the Avalon. It was a full house and it was a great crowd. Mr. White started things off and set the tone for the entire night. He even celebrated his Birthday on stage and was presented with the biggest cupcake I’ve ever seen in my life!

Next, Deniz Koyu took control of the booth. I was really amped on seeing him for the first time. His latest single, Bong, has been stuck in my head since EDC and I really just can’t get enough of it. Koyu smashed the crowd playing banger after banger. We were dancing so hard our legs could have fallen off and we definitely weren’t the only ones. Everyone was soaking in the music and thoroughly enjoying the ride.

I wasn’t sure if I had it in me to stick around for Pleasurekraft, but once he took the stage I immediately got a second wind. He kept the crowd alive with his deep, seductive signature sound that everyone in the room was craving. Every time I go to the Avalon I have a great time! Max Vangeli is back in the podcast game, folks! We’re still recovering from his INSANE set with AN21 in Miami at SET, but listening to his latest April 2012 podcast is certainly making us wish we were back in Florida.
