Is there life after Swedish House Mafia?
Well given last week’s “Leave the World Behind” video, apparently, there is… just out in the remote wilderness.

But yesterday we were treated to one of the first peeks of a brand new collab between former mafiosos Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso in the form of a bumping new track for the soundtrack of the upcoming Disney film Monsters University. First we had Daft Punk score the Tron sequel, then Skrillex in Wreck-It-Ralph, now Axwell & Seb… cleary someone in Disney Corporate is down with EDM and slowly integrating one of the fastest growing musical trends into their successful pop-culture machine.

The track “ROAR” was released in a new preview for the movie, which looks like its a Monsters Inc meets Revenge of the Nerds meets Animal House in a family-friendly Disney interpretation of the college movie genre… so of course it’s expected that there would be some big party scenes full of hi-jinx, and who better to supply the soundtrack than two of the people who pretty much set the standard for frat party music in the last few years.

“ROAR” is slated to be released on June 4 and will feature remixes by Style Of Eye and Yogi.

The music fades. The lights go down.
Where do you find yourself when its all over?

In this highly teased and anticipated new video from the boys of Swedish House Mafia, we see a glimpse at a simpler life, away from the bright lights and booming bass. Set to a stripped down cover of the Swede’s hit song “Leave the World Behind” by Linnéa Martinsson (who previously sang Adrian Lux’s “Teenage Crime”) under the moniker Lune, her haunting rendition of the huge house classic fits the chilling yet serene video.

It’s funny because the video/setting/theme of the song seems to imply that Steve, Axwell, and Sebastian quite literally left the world behind and returned to their roots and a simpler life (So simple that Steve is seen brushing his teeth in a waterfall…?) but we all know that just as quickly as the curtain fell on Swedish House Mafia, the 3 went off and hit the ground running with packed solo schedules. We’ll suspend our disbelief for the sake of art and watch the 3 wander aimlessly in a video that kinda just makes them all look depressed… But really, it’s a pretty cover and a visually striking video, and let’s be honest: It’s just good to see the Swedes again.

and this happens:

Get ready to re-up on “Reload” by Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash. Much like he did with “Calling,” Ingrosso has breathed fresh life into the track by adding vocals months after the original version debuted. The vocals are added by John Martin, who is instantly recognizable from his work on Swedish House Mafia’s “Save The World” and “Don’t You Worry Child” and his voice sounds just as good here. The vocals fit the song perfectly as they capture the sad but hopeful vibe of the song. Crowds have been enjoying this song since it was first released, and now they will be able to sing along. Listen below to start memorizing the lyrics and remember what is still a great song.

In case you weren’t at Masquerade Motel this past weekend in LA, you not only missed 2 nights of pure epic-ness (sorry to rub it in), but you also missed out on hearing Alesso drop his unreleased track, “If I Lose Myself.” Even though the official release date isn’t until April 2, I’ve found myself listening to the preview at least 20 times a day, and as pathetic as that sounds, it’s no exaggeration. So this might be me being a little biased, but after hearing him drop it live, it’s safe to say that Alesso has really outdone himself with this one. This song evokes emotions you didn’t even know existed, and I felt the same way about “Years” after I heard it for the first time. Alesso never ceases to amaze. This is a track that’s sure to be huge, so if you’re crazy about it like me, start counting down the days until April 2!

Alesso has several tour dates coming up, click here for his schedule.
