I don’t know what rock I’ve been living under, but apparently there’s been a trend in “unboxing” videos showing off the first moments of opening a new product and what is contained within. Really though, there’s thousands of these videos, a consumer-reports esque check to make sure things are really just as exciting as they look.

And oh, is Random Access Memories exciting.

Featuring the two robots, well, opening the record and examining the contents, the video ends with the placement of the record on the turntable, giving fans that all too familiar click and hiss from the second the needle touches the record, a sound packed with even more anticipation than the rest of the unboxing itself. The video ends with the first few seconds of the first track, ”Give Life Back To Music”, a never-before heard snippet that kicks off the beginning of what is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated albums of the year (if not longer), and the swelling epic build couldn’t be more fitting for the caliber of the record.

Dutch electro wiz kids Martin Garrix and TV Noise may be fresh on the scene, but a video preview of their upcoming electro collaboration “Just Some Loops” proves they’re a force to be reckoned with. The track begins with an intricate buildup that launches with fury into a torrent of heavy womps. If the duo continues to release solid productions like these, they’ll reach headliner status in no time. “Just Some Loops” is due out May 31st on Spinnin’ Records.

The music itself is of course a massive party all the way through. Right from the start they set the tone with their new single “Power Glove” and proceeded, as the vocal sample says, to play with power. Their other raging songs like “Antidote” and their remix of “Save the World” are also present along with the still addicting “Internet Friends” that first secured Knife Party a special place in listener’s hearts. Swedish power players Dada Life have seen a need for this earth to get a little bit wilder, a little bit more champagne-drenched, and most importantly loads more uglier. For most EDM fans tomorrow might have been an average Wednesday but now Dada Life’s declared March 6, 2013, as Dada Land Independence Day in honor of their fight to establish Dada Land as its own sovereign nation. Think these guys aren’t serious? Think again – they’re pushing fans to help collect 10,000 signatures to get Dada Land up and running as a society of its own. As they put it, they plan to “continue to assert our human right to Arrive Beautiful and Leave Ugly.” I’m definitely convinced in joining the fight and already slipping on my best banana getup as an act of patriotism.

You can rally for the cause with other Dada fans in London, New York, Stockholm, Sydney, and Washington D.C. The masterminds behind “Kick Out The Epic Motherf**ker” are dead set on making this a reality – they’ve even submitted a Dada-centric Declaration of Independence to the U.N. The official music video for “Tiny Anthem” by The M Machine debuted on Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak-run YouTube channel Potato. This trippy video interprets the track through the vivid, intergalactic tale of a space-suited chick launched on another planet. Colorful action ensues and a cast of intricately designed alien characters make for a unique viewing experience I wasn’t expecting for a track as low-key as “Tiny Anthem.” The video’s yet another fun clip served up on Potato and I’m excited to see the direction the channel takes in its breakthrough months.
